How long have you been involved with the club?
Since I was about 10, not today or yesterday! Although we were known as St Ita’s Camogie Club in those days, until the mid 80s when we officially merged with O’Donovan Rossa GFC. You should see the face on our younger players when I mention we weren’t always Rossas – priceless!

At what age did you start playing Camogie?
Did you play with a school team, if so which school? Started playing around age 9, with Mrs O’Brien taking us for school camogie at the former St Marys PS.

How many years have you held the position of Camogie chairperson?
13 years although always hoping for a coup every year 😉

Best camogie memory?
winning our first championship in 1991, under the management of Cathal Higgins; my first U12 team winning championship in 2000.

Best Rossa memory?
There’s a brave few, becoming the first female to win ‘Clubman of the Year’ and performing in our recent UTR productions – the Very Very Late Late Show and Rossas got Stars in their Eyes – such a talented/deluded bunch we are! Lol

Any particular successes with the teams you’ve been involved in, if so, when and what?
Was a member of a few great senior teams, winning 4 championships and 4 league titles. ‘Simply the best’ was our signature tune, performed on countless occasions for anyone who would listen. Great times!

What club do you like to see do well apart from your own?
Lissan (Daddy was chairman), Desertmartin and Greenlough (married to Greenlough man)

What would you buy if you won the lottery?
A ferrari for Mark, a real fire engine for Thomas, a hurling wall and sports hall for the club….oh, and a few more hurls for cousin Enda! 😉

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would that be?
Machu Picchu, Peru

What three people would you invite to a dinner party?
Will Ferrell, Brian O’Driscoll, Temple Grandin (scientist & and autism activist)

In ten years time Rossa Camogs will be?
Serious contenders in Derry Premier Camogie League (Div 1). We have some fabulous talent in our ranks and there’s a real buzz about the place from U6 upwards. The girls are really enjoying their camogie and that’s what it’s all about.
