Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives facilitates locally arranged cardiac screening clinics for those aged 14-35 at various centres in Ireland and Northern Ireland. It also aims to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS).
The club has provisionally arranged for cardiac screening to take place in the MacFlynn suite on Saturday 15th October 2016, subject to a minimum number of 35 people.
What is the purpose of cardiac screening?
An individual may have a cardiac abnormality in the absence of any symptoms. Screening with an electrocardiogram (ECG) aims to highlight these abnormalities by identifying conditions such as cardiomyopathies or electrical faults of the heart.
Screening is particularly crucial for individuals and athletes within our club who are actively playing sport.
How can I register to attend screening at the club?
For anyone interested, names must be forwarded to Health & Wellbeing Officer Geraldine McKay by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by text to 07827 818568 along with details of the person (s) wishing to be screened and parental details if a child is aged 14-16 years. Please note, all names should be forwarded by no later than Friday 9th September and the club must have 35 names confirmed to proceed with the screening.
You will be required to fill in a medical questionnaire and consent form both of which can be downloaded online in advance of the screening, or can be completed on the day. Click here to download.
